Routine Immunization

India’s population living in urban marginalized and rural regions have no or limited access to hospitals and other health institutions. People have to walk long distances to reach fixed health care services.

In order to provide access to primary healthcare to vulnerable and marginalized communities in Delhi – NCR, BUDS has put in place “My Doctor on Wheels”, a custom-fabricated mobile medical care van. In the van, a doctor, a counselor and a para-medical worker (pharmacist) visit the different project sites to provide basic health care services. The clinical services offered include:

  • pediatric medical care
  • emergency care
  • counseling services
  • gynecology, sexual and reproductive
  • health treatment of gastrointestinal and respiratory
  • infection referral services

The mobile clinic team is supported by community social and outreach workers. Peer educators conduct community mobilization, promote access to services, provide nutrition education, distribute IEC materials and follow-up with families. With the support of the district health department, community health outlets provided vaccination to children 0-5 year old and pregnant women. In the last 3 year, more than 720 camps have been conducted benefiting close to 81,603 community members.
