Ishika’s Story

Ishika is an 18-year-old girl, who lives in Sarai Kale Khan. She is from a Muslim family. Ishika’s father has his own house. Ishika also has a younger brother who is in 7th standard and her mother is a housewife. Ishika’s father used to do embroidery work earlier, but due to eye problems, he could not continue.  After lockdown his work was stopped completely and they lost the Rs.4000 they were earning as rent.  As a result, the family suffered from food shortage and needed medicines. BUDS stepped in and provided dry rations and treatment for Ishika’s father’s eye problems from the Mobile Health Van.

Aisha’s story

Aisha is 20 years old, before her marriage, she used to reside in Jharkhand. Her family includes 7 members in her family; Husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and their two children. They all adjust themselves to a tiny room due to limited income and resources. Her sister-in-law moved in with them after her husband passed away. Aisha’s husband earns a living by installing CCTV cameras into the buildings. She had appeared for her 10th standard exams but dropped out after she was unable to clear the Science and Maths papers.

Manvi’s Story

Manvi’s  family has been living in Sarai Phoos Basti of Mori Gate area for the last 50 years. It is a very congested area, it is surrounded by Kashmeri Gate, Sadar Bazar, Chandni Chowk Mithai Pul, Novelty pull and Old Delhi Railway Station. All these areas are always surrounded by traffic

Suman’s story

Suman’s* family has lived in Kucha Mohtar Khan Mori Gate in East Delhi for almost 40 years. This is a highly populous area, with a population of about 22,46,749. There are many congested areas around it like Kashmere Gate, Tis Hazari Kot, Malka Ganj, Ram Bazar Chandni Chowk and Old Delhi Railway Station

Kusum’s road to recovery

Kusum is 13 years old and hails from Darbhanga (a state in Bihar). Her father runs a small food shop, which suffered losses during the COVID19 pandemic. His earnings have dwindled to Rs. 7000 ($82) in a month

Geeta’s Dream Come True……

Geeta is about 24 years of age and is originally from Delhi; her family has been living in Koucha Mohtar Khan in Mori Gate, adjacent to the Old Delhi Railway Station, for the last almost fifty years. Her grandfather migrated to Delhi and settled down and the family has lived there ever since. Her father is unemployed but ever since he stopped working Geeta’s mother and both brothers have got jobs at a packing factory
